This morning I updated AVG of my Mac Mini running MacOS Catalina version 10.15.7 and it now believes that FTMWebService (part of Family Tree Maker 2019 for Mac) is infected with MacOS:Pirrit-CP [PUP]. and so consequently is moving the FTMWebServices component of Family Tree Maker 2019 for Mac to quarantine.

This means that I have to:

  1. Uninstall AVG AntiVirus version 19.6 (4ba005b0500e).
  2. Uninstall Family Tree Maker for Mac 2019.
  3. Download Family Tree Maker 2019 for Mac 2019.
  4. Install Family Tree Maker 2019 for Mac.
  5. Reinstall AVG AntiVirus 19.6 (which I. am not going to do).

Why is this happening and how can I/you stop this?
