We'll certainly check and help you to resolve it. Please clarify whether you've installed and using any other antivirus program, apart from AVG on your computer. If yes, please follow the steps mentioned in the below article and uninstall it and try disabling the passive mode in AVG, restart your computer and check the status.

I can't turn on my protection in AVG internet security. It won't flip from passiv to activate?
I have paid for premium but I can't turn anything on.
I can't get in touch with avg so they can fix the problem.
I'm pretty close to cancel my subscription
