It's can connect out to my local network
Hello Hoang.
I request you to check this link http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=Allow-application-in-AVG-Firewall to know steps to allow applications in Firewall.
Thank you.
Hello,
Is there some news with this bug of the firewall
I have the same problem since 2014 with all version of AVG internet security.
I've now got the same issue.
I used to use BullGuard, and trialled AVG Internet Security. Purchased a code and installed (the version I'm running now seems different from what I had before).
The trail worked perfectly, but now none of my virtual machines can access the internet. They can see other machines on the network fine, just not get on the internet. This is a real problem as I need to be able to check in/out source code.
So is there a solution to this? I'm using Oracle VirtualBox. Every Oracle exe is added as a rule in the firewall, and I've ticked the "Allow any traffic to/from…" box as well.
Thanks in advance,
Tony.
Hi Hoang.
It is indeed disappointing when you have to contact us multiple times about the same issue but I’ll find the quickest way to get this resolved for you at the earliest. I have sent you an email regarding this issue. Please check your inbox and you will be fine.
Thank you.
The chat session was completley useles. All that was suggested was "can I take control of your machine to fix". The answer is "of course not", what is the point in having some security if you let someone take remote control? And it's against company policy as well.
And the only thing that was suggested was to "allow all blocked applications". That has got to be one of the most utterly useless suggestions I've ever been told.
Back to BullGuard I think.
Hello Georgios,
We apologize for the delay in response. Unfortunately, we can not guarantee you the ETA of the fix. We request you to try upgrading to the latest version of AVG ( http://avgclick.me/UpgradeToLatest ). Thank you.
I have the exact same problem. Could you publish the email instructions (that is the purpose of a forum, surely?) or send them to me?
Hello Hoang. In this case I have sent you the email instructions with further steps to be followed. Please check for the email in spam or junk folders if it is not present in the inbox. Thank you.
Hi,
I'm tired of trying,
Allow application in AVG Firewall
C:\PROGRAM FILES (X86)\VMWARE\VMWARE WORKSTATION\VMWARE.EXE
C:\PROGRAM FILES (X86)\VMWARE\VMWARE WORKSTATION\VMWARE-HOSTD.EXE
Virtual machine (IP 10.0.0.16) added to whitelist
The VM can ping out to my local network and other server on the internet, ie "ping www.google.com" but Internet Explorer cannot resolve any web pages.
Was the problem solved? It's been a while and I experience the same problem. I've contacted technical support in Dec 2015 and they were not able to resolve the issue. They even offered me a second remote session from the "senior technical team" with no success.
The problem appears in both Virtual Box and VMware Virtual machines, when the VMs are configured to "bridged adapter" mode. Whitelisting IPs, "Allow any traffic from/to Virtual Machines" and "Fictive local IP addresses" options do not work and the connections are always blocked by the AVG firewall with the application description "FilterDevice". You can ping and nslookup from the VMs but not telnet, wget or browse any website.
Moreover, while using Interactive Mode in the firewall settings I am not asked about a lot of connections that I've seen as "blocked" in the Logs.
I unisntalled the firewall and I've been using Windows Firewall untill the issue is resolved.
Hello again,
It has been almost 3 months since my case was escalated to the senior technical team and almost 7 months since Hoang Huynh first posted about this issue. Was there any development on the issue? It is really dissapointing that while I have bought a license, I am not able to use an advertised feature of your firewall and keep on using Microsoft firewall so that I can keep my virtual machines configured in bridged mode.
I would appreciate a formal response about the estimated time of resolution or even a workaround to the problem.
Massimo,
Could you let us know which version of AVG are you using and whether it is a paid version or a trial version of AVG?
Hello Georgios,
I just checked your records and I can see that your case(02631158) has been escalated to senior level technical team(T3) and they are working on it. I can assure that all necessary steps will be taken to resolve the issue as soon as possible and you will soon be contacted via email providing further assistance. Thank you.
Hi Kishore!
Just to be clear, I am not Hoang - just someone with the same problem. I have not received the email you refer to, so can you ensure that you send it to the email address associated with my account?
Thanks for your assistance!
