Firewall blocks Plex Remote Access?

K Something
I've got the technical know how of a squirrel.  Any chance you could post a screenshot of what it should look like?

I've tried everyting I can think of and it's still not working

So when I recently subscribed to AVG recently (AVG is awesome by the way) and downloaded and set everything up. I recently found out through trial and error, that it seems the Firewall blocks Plex Remote Access. When I turn it off and refresh it, everything works fine. So I decided just to uninstall the firewall for now (I have another Virus scanner that has a firewall, so I'm not worried) and everything is working. But I would like to have everything on AVG working including the firewall. I did everything I could in the firewall settings, making sure the port that it's routing was good (Which is 32400 for remote server Plex), and put the Plex Inc, and Plex to all connections in the Firewall, but to no avail, it still blocks it.

Anyone know what I can do to fix this?

Yes, Switching to Private in Internet Security >>> Menu >>> Settings >>> Components >>> Firewall (Customize) >>> Network Profiles should fix this issue. I think this may have been an addition in the recent version upgrade.

But because it's such a maze to navigate, note that the port-based Policy rules are set by going to Security >>> Menu >>> Settings >>> Components >>> Firewall (Customize) >>> Policies >>> Packet Rules (Packet Rules).

Specifically for Plex (from a post in their forum):
TCP 32400 alone may not work for client connections. Some of the other ports listed are used for discovery as opposed to the data stream. Discovery being kind of important.

The most important port to make sure your firewall allows is the main TCP port the Plex Media Server uses for communication:
TCP: 32400 (for access to the Plex Media Server) [required]

The following ports are also used for different services:
UDP: 1900 (for access to the Plex DLNA Server)
TCP: 3005 (for controlling Plex Home Theater via Plex Companion)
UDP: 5353 (for older Bonjour/Avahi network discovery)
TCP: 8324 (for controlling Plex for Roku via Plex Companion)
UDP: 32410, 32412, 32413, 32414 (for current GDM network discovery)
TCP: 32469 (for access to the Plex DLNA Server)

Hello Kevin,
We are sorry to hear that you are unable to connect to the Plex Remote access. We suggest you to open firewall settings and check if the network profile is set to public or private. If it is set to public, please change it to private and check if that fix the issue.
Thank you

This worked for me, thank you!
