Firewall blocks video casting

Hi, I am having the same problem (described above) as I have to disable the AVG firewall in order to use media casting to my mu-so? Thanks for the help.

Hi have you tried adding the ip of the tv to the defined networks whitelist? This always works for me as nothing else does! It goes like this …

Firstly make an attempt to cast video to the device, as it blocks it will be logged in avg. (make 2or3 attempts in a row it will make it easier to find) Next go to AVG firewall and go to advanced setting through the cog symbol in the bottom right. Now click on expert mode in the bottom left and go to the "logs" tab. search for most recent log (not always at the top. use the time to help you find it) On this line note down the "remote ip". Next go back to expert mode tabs and click on tab - "defined networks" In defined networks click on the whitelist line a press "edit" and then "add IP", in one IP address put in your tvs remote ip. the hit "APPLY!!!" and hopefully enjoy! ;D hope this helps GLFH

Sorry for not getting back to you however the problem still persists and yes it is the paid version of AVG zen I have if you let me know what programs to allow I'm sure I can solve it reasonably quickly. However as windows 10 is widely used and you know about the problem I feel you should have produced a sort for it in an upgrade or given users guidelines.

Hello James,

Sorry for the inconvenience caused.
Could you please click on Firewall component of AVG program and then check whether the "file and sharing" is enabled in it?

Hello Alfred,
The app is called Google Cast and please try to add that application to  AVG's exceptions list as described in this article http://avgclick.me/AddException . Thank you.

My pc is now refusing to cast to my Sony Android TV with the firewall active yet does so when i deactivate it. I have the paid for version of AVG ZEN Do you have any solutions file and printer sharing is enabled.

I have updated my AVG Protection and casting video to my TV is now blocked.

I use the Windows 10 Film and TV app. It works if I disable the AVG firewall.

I have ensured that that streaming is enabled in the Network And Sharing Centre.

I am unable to add an exception to the firewall as I have been unable to discover where the Film and TV app is saved!! I therefore cant enter the URL.

Any help would be appreciated.
