Firewall cannot start following update

My Windows 10 just ran some significant update which took forever and following its re-boot my AVG is now showing…

"You are not fully protected!

! Firewall:  Firewall cannot start, because an error has occurred in communication with a driver.   Please contact AVG technical support."

as per the attached picture.

Contacting support via my account has just provided some irrelevant possibilities then bounced me over to this forum so here.  I obviously don't want to be online for long without an active firewall though.   Help please.
