Subscriber to Internet security over a year ago. For the first time ever, AVG blocked access to Pru.Co.UK log in page. (URL:Phishing) which I had been using regularly for over a year without problems. PRU asked straightaway if I was using an AVG/AVAST product. They say there is a technical issue and referred me to AVG. AVG first said my Windows needed updating (wrong) then say its a Windows configuration problem which they can fix for £150. When I complained they tried adding it to exception. Did not work. They then said firewall conflict with poss McCafee (which was bundled with my laptop but which I removed 3 years ago). I see this issue has popped up many times previously and AVG has always suggested a "fix by a skilled technician". They did not mention the cost. No issues with any other log in pages or websites. Same result with IE 11 and Chrome.
Uninstalled AVG… It worked. Ran Windows diagnostic and fixed whatever issues identified. Re installed AVG. Problem returned.
I accept that there may be a conflict caused by some firewall setting but the conflict only occurs with AVG installed so it is AVG related. They want £150??
Website does not have provision for complaints. I was told I can unsubscribe and fill in an online form for a refund. The link to the "form" flashed up for a millisecond then disappeared forever.
I do not wish to make a third one hour call. Any suggestion?
