Hello Mike,
We can understand your concern but if you choose as "interactive" for firewall mode then you will always get a prompt for every application that you are trying to access on your PC. If you don't wish to get the prompt then you have to choose the mode as "AUTOMATIC". The Firewall protection will be the same for any mode that you choose. So, even if you choose Automatic, your PC will get the same enhanced protection level as Interactive. Please have a look at this article: http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-choose-a-firewall-mode .
We request you to submit the feedback to us through this link: http://www.avg.com/product-feedback .
Thank you.
Hello Mike,
We regret for the inconvenience caused. We use Interactive mode if we want to fully control all network traffic to and from your computer. The Firewall will monitor it for you and notify you of each attempt to communicate or transfer data, enabling you to allow or block the attempt as you see fit. Recommended for advanced users only. We request you to change your firewall mode as automatic and try to access the application. If you are still getting the access prompt please let us know, we are here to help you. Thank you.
Hi Aravindh
The Firewall protection is not the same for all modes. Automatic implies trusting AVG to decide what I want connecting to the internet and it is too loose. Interactive mode works 100% - the only failure is when a vendor keeps changing the file signature every night so that "Save my Decision" is rendered useless at file level. We need folder level as well.
Thanks
Mike
Hi
Is anyone also having their AVG Firewall ask them each morning to authorise AVG's Setup file? I do this every morning, tick "Save my decision" but every morning it's back. Firewall mode obviously in Interactive mode.
If your answer is yes and you found a solution, please let me know.
Maybe AVG support will see this forum post because no one seems to be monitoring their direct support form submissions.
Thanks
Mike
Hello Mike,
We apologize for the inconvenience.
Could you please check if the AVG setup is set as allow in the list of applications allowed by AVG. If not, please change the settings to allow the application from the settings and that should stop this prompt. Please open the AVG program click on "Options", "Advanced settings", Firewall, Application. From here you can change the settings.
Thank you.

Hi Aravindh
Automatic is not a solution. If I was happy with the level of protection it offered I would use it. Hopefully 25 years in software development means I qualify as a "Advanced User". When can we expect folder level exception for the firewall module? I can't see another way if the setup.exe is changing nightly.
Thanks
Mike
Thank you for understanding and submitting the feedback. We will take necessary action in the mere future.
