Firewall not allowing connection to internet

Last week the firewall has gone haywire and the only way to access the internet with anyy browser is to disable the fire wall.  Tried resetting to defaults to no avail.  Does anyone know how to fix?

Sorry to hear about the inconvenience caused. Could you please let me know which version of AVG are you using? Please follow the steps below and check if the issue resolved.
Open menu Start -> (Settings) -> Control Panel.
Double-click Network and Internet -> Network and Sharing Center.
Click Change adapter settings in the left pane.
Right-click the connection you are using and select Properties.
Under This connection uses the following items un-tick (clear) AVG network filter driver.
Click OK to store the changes.
Once more right-click Local area connections -> select Properties.
Tick (select) the AVG network filter driver and click OK.
Restart your computer.
