Firewall preventing webpages opening in either chrome or IE

Hi AVG Ultimate firewall causing problems on daughter's HP laptop in last two days. We know it is a firewall issue as when she was in college and disabled AVG firewall and used the college internet and their firewall she was able to open web pages.  

When she has AVG firewall enabled and connects to the internet at home she opens Chrome and the google page comes up no problem.  It is only when she tries to open another web address that it first tries to connect to the page then an error message comes up saying that the connection has timed out and to reload or try again later.

She would appreciate any help please.  Thanks

Hello Aravindh

She uninstalled AVG then reinstalled it again.  It installed ok but when it tried to do the download the AVG updates she got an error message:

Installation failed
Sorry, we've experiened a problem durring initialization. Please try again, and if the issue persists, contact Customer Support for help.

error code: 0xE0060006
Description: Event exec_finished

I don't know if this is of any help to you.  She tried to access websites again but was unable to including AVG.
