If you're not using the free version there is also a link for AVG Internet Security build 16.121.7859 which I am using on one computer:

But it is difficult to stop the ghastly 2017 version from replacing it.
There is a fix. AVG would have you believe this is for the best but screw that. They claim to want to make the customer happy but are constantly taking away our choices and shoving inferior products down our throat. Are you using 64 bit windows? If so go here and download this one. You'll get the original interface back and it works just fine. Updating still gives you the latest up to date definitions.

Click the area that says "please click here to download the software without the installer." and use that one. It's the latest version of AVG 2016 before the abortion that is AVG 2017.
Denise,
We apologize if an AVG product did not meet your expectations. Our main goal is to keep our customers happy. The feedback regarding the campaign pop ups from AVG has been submitted to our developers and necessary changes is being made in the future updates. Should you have any specific feedback to share, please share it on our product feedback page here: http://avgclick.me/AVGfeedback .
Has anyone discovered anything beneficial about the recent AVG forced upgrade? My former AVG home page was easy to understand and use. Now I can't locate anything and the only thing I see are AVG self-plaudits and endless pop-ups advertising and advising the user to use/buy more AVG products. Too bad there isn't a re-set for this.

I forgot to say that my AVG Internet Security build 16.121.7859 was not obtained from th link provided in my earlier answer. It was the software bought as AVG Internet Security 2016.
