Thank you Alok, As per my initial post, it happened after the Mojave upgrade - I have other Macs which I have not upgraded and they work fine. I have run the commands in Terminal:

I tried to modify the High Sierra fix so that it would work with Mojave, but no luck. Here is what I have so far…
Here is the High Sierra fix from December 17, 2018 which I posted last year…
launchctl load -w -S Aqua "/Library/Application Support/AVGAntivirus/Contents/Backend/launch/LaunchAgents/com.avg.userinit.plist"
launchctl load -w -S Aqua "/Library/Application Support/AVGAntivirus/Contents/Backend/launch/LaunchAgents/com.avg.update-agent.plist"
And here is the attempt at a Mojave fix…
launchctl load -w -S Aqua “Applications/AVG AntiVirus/Contents/Backend/launch/LaunchAgents/com.avg.userinit.plist"
launchctl load -w -S Aqua “Applications/AVG AntiVirus/Contents/Backend/launch/LaunchDaemons/com.avg.update.plist"
The file pathways are correct, (I triple checked) but they don't seem to work. Anybody with more experience than I is welcome to participate

I'm now having trouble downloading and installing AVG - fails on the definition update.

Hi, Since installing the latest MacOs update, Mojave, my AVG will not load, run or give me the interface.
Tired uninstalling and installing again but when you start it, it runs as a process for five seconds then disappears. Help.
Hi, I have the initial issue where I could install but AVG will no longer run. I have since removed AVG and tried to reinstall but I'm getting the attached message when trying to install AVG. I also cannot download AVG from your website. It feels like AVG isn't for me!
