Free AVG Smart Scan: advanced scan running 3 sec instead of almost 30-60 sec?

I just ran a smart scan on my Free AVG and noticed the 3rd step where its doing the advanced scan now runs in under 3-4 sec where before (up to 2 days ago), it used to take 30-45 sec at least.

The result of what it is finding is also shorter.  It gives me the impression it is now scanning less.

Am I right and if it is really scanning less, why?
