Karthikeyan,
I appreciate your input but unfortunately, nothing you have said in the above answer is true.
There was no renewal, no automatic extension and certainly no email notification 10 days prior to anything (as per my original email, you will note I didn't even get one of these signing up!!). This was my original subscription, so how all the things you mentioned happening happened is a bit of a struggle to understand.
The fact of the matter is on 27th of June I signed up for this free trial for the 1st time. On checking my bank balance the following day I noted a 1 euro charge had been placed on my account by Digital River, thinking I had been scammed I searched for this company leading me back to your site. Since my complaint, this charge seems to have been removed. It is disappointing that the above answer had to resort to dishonesty in an attempt to silence a complaint and even more disappointing that hidden charges are being placed on free trials by your payment service.
The money appears to have been returned to me and the trial I signed up for is finally working but this whole experience has not been at all convenient and I would not be inclined to use your services again as a result.
Hello Sarah,
As per your request, we have cancelled the auto renewal for AVG Secure VPN (60-day Trial) and it expires on 27th August 2018.
We couldn't see a charge debited recently, but assure you that the money will not be debited automatically for this trial.
If this trial shows up on "AVG my account" it is possible to cancel the subscription as mentioned in this article: https://goo.gl/p44Qiu .
If it doesn't show up, then there is a synchronization issue with the server which can be fixed by our concern team.
If you would like to fix it, do give us a confirmation here.
For activating 60 day trial of VPN, follow the steps as mentioned (here).
Keep us informed about the status.
I signed up for a "free" trial on 27/6/18, at the hidden cost of a euro. Since then I am still being shown warnings that my trial has expired and when I log on to my avg no products are found but I can see my invoice from 27th. I received no confirmation email so have no option available to me to cancel my subscription. Since I'm not actually getting to avail of your trial I would like it cancelled immediately so I don't incur any more cost. Also, I think it would be fair if you returned any money removed from my account as not to would indicate the trial was not, in fact, free as advertised!

There is nothing showing up in the “My AVG” tab, the only indication I had that the trial had been started was the €1 taken from my account by Digital River, who I understand to be your payment gateway. I would like to be able to avail of the trial I signed up for and I would like the money returned to my account
But why have digital River debited my account when the trial I signed up for was free?
Yes, Digital River provides eCommerce and payment services for AVG orders processed via AVG web/In-App cart.
The activation article provided will show you to follow activation steps from AVG Secure VPN window.
Please refer this article: https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?l=en&urlName=Activate-AVG-Secure-VPN&supportType=home and check whether you are able to activate AVG Secure VPN (60-day Trial).

This renewal was placed because you agreed to automatic extensions of your trial Subscription Period when you originally subscribed for your AVG Secure VPN. We can assure you that we have not processed any unauthorized payments from your card or account.
We sent an email notification 10 days prior to the order being placed to let you know in advance that this payment was due. This also contained information on how to cancel your Subscription.
