Frequently blocks internet access to all but Google pages

Hi. I've been happily using AVG Free for years, but a recent update has made it very frustrating. Things will work fine, until they don't. Suddenly (with no common trigger I've been able to identify) all online access will be stopped, except for anything Google – Google Search, Gmail, Google News, Google Docs, even Google Dictionary and Google Translate apps for Chrome – all of these behave normally.

Turning off AVG allows traffic again, so this is definitely the cause.

This can happen hours after startup, or sometimes not for weeks. Rebooting has been the only way to regain access, though earlier today I paused for 10mins, and when it kicked back in it was still working, and continues to do so. In the past, restarting from pause would just shut down access every time.

Win8.1 64-Bit laptop. AVG is the latest version. (Main browser is Chrome, though it's not dependent on that.)

If someone could tell me which AVG .exe or service I can shut down through Task Manager (and then restart) to avoid the reboot, I'd appreciate it very much.

This is more of a bug report than anything, unless there's some setting that can fix this.

Thanks very much.
