Getting 0xc0070642 can't set config

When trying to uninstall and reinstall AVG 2015 Internet Security suite I get all kinds of errors but now mainly I am getting the 0xc0070642 with various messages.

I ran the uninstall, the AVG_Remover, the AVG_ResetAccess, the AVG_ BFEfix which all just seem to sit there and flash please wait, left them active to up to two hours each and ended up canceling them all. Then even tried a Safe Mode install and got the 0xc0070642 Unable to write config…

I was forced into uninstalling as AVG (which I have had installed and have updated for years and years) because I could no longer get to the panel. Am getting to the point that I am going to scape it and ask for a refund for my three computer license. Funny this seems to happen now they are charging for support.

Paul,
I had the same problem as you. I've been trying to re-install avg antivirus for 3 days now and get the sajme error message. I just downloaded and ran the avg remover tool as recommended in Babette's query and avg installed without any problem. It seems there is a lot of junk left after you uninstall the program. Hope this works for you
