Did you purchase the AVG license via official website or through reseller?
getting a message saying "license is now activated and you new AVG Antivirus Free Edition can now be installed" but the window ghosts when I click on "Install Now" an can't be cancelled, even by Ending the task.

I'm using AVG Free (and have been for some years now)
AVG Free and Zen appear to be installed and running.
But this pop-up has recently started appearing,

It can't be acted on and the task (avgui.exe) can't be cancelled in Resource monitor which throws an error saying "access denied".
I've tried downloading and running AVG Remover and reinstalling AVG Protection Free 1606 but just get the same result.
I'm using AVG Free (and have been for some years now)

We apologize for the inconvenience. To resolve the issue we would request you to uninstall AVG Zen using AVG Removal tool and then you can reinstall AVG Free Antivirus latest version on your computer.
Please click on the below link to run AVG remover tool :

Once the AVG Remover Tool has done with its process and restarted your PC,

please remove AVG folders manually as suggested below. Go to Run window (press windows key and R key simultaneously) and type the following comments to delete the folders.
1. Type “Temp” and press enter, remove all the files.
2. “%temp%” and remove all the files.
3. %appdata% - Remove all the AVG folders.
4. %programdata% - Open the AVG folder and remove the old files.
Please go to c: drive-> program files and delete the AVG files and AVG remover tool manually.
Once you are done with the remover tool please try installing the AVG program by clicking the following link:
