Google Chrome not loading

I've recently purchased the AVG Ultimate Suite. On one of the devices I have installed it, a PC with W10, the Chrome suddenly stopped loading pages. I get a grey/black screen and whatever URL I type, the page simply won't load.
I have repeatedly uninstalled with an uninstaller and re-installed Chrome, but the problem persists. I've also downloaded Chrome Clean-Up Tool, but the program fails to initiate properly.
I am wondering if this can be anyhow related to Firewall.
I was recommended to download Combo Fix, but I've read alarming comments regarding the complexity of the program, so I am reluctant to try this.
On other browsers, like Edge and Firefox, I don't have yet issues.
Appreciate your feedback.
