Hacker protection is not active every time I logon, Why. How do I rectify this problem.

Ian, to narrow down whether it is Firewall or Ransom ware protection component that is disabled, please share a screenshot of the Hackers Attack window.

We request you to check whether ransomware protection is disabled.
Open AVG Internet Security program interface.
Click on "Menu–>Settings–>Full Protection–>Ransomware Protection".
If it is disabled, then the slider would appear in "red" color. Move the slider to the right to turn on its protection.
Once this is done, check the status with the "hacker attacks" on the main interface.

I have resolved the problem by going to Menu - Settings - trougleshooting - Reset to Defaults and then rsbooting. Hope this helps others.
