Hello Graham,

Checking out a laptop for a friend I got my USB stick infected with multiple viruses, notably jwgkvsq.vmx bu other trojans as well - I cannot say which. AVG stopped it getting to my PC.
I had plugged the laptop into the network so I could install AVG! Both running Windows XP.
Making sure my PC was clean I found a strange entry under the properties for the internet gateway connection: service name f339650bcc58311a, external port 2015, internal port 8054, IP address the same as the infected laptop, and ticked as enabled to let internet users use the service on my network.I could not remove the entry.
None of these entries showed up on extensive searches of my PC.
The rogue entry only went away when I reset the BT Home hub / router to factory settings.
BT say their routers / hubs cannot get infected, but how else can you explain this?
Either the virus got past the AVG on my PC or it got to the router from the infected laptop.
