Hello, I'm getting "This is an illegal copy" notice on a free version?

Hello Randle,

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused. We assure you that if you install our AVG free antivirus program from our official website then you won't be getting this illegal license issue but did you purchase any license for AVG previously that starts with 8MEH character?
If yes, then it is the pirated license number of AVG and this will happen only when you try to purchase the AVG license for any other online website or store.
Our customer support are working 24/7 and upon checking the records, I see that this is the first complaint of yours got in to our notice and we don't see any other complaints from you.
Glad that you have reached our community support and we would like to know what is the current situation of your AVG free program?
Do you have the free program installed or you have uninstalled it completely?

Hello,

I've been using the free edition for AVG antivirus for some time and have been quite pleaseed with it, I was considering purchasing the full version.  I'm not so sure that I would buy it after my experiences.

The first time I installed AVG Free Antivirus directly from your AVG website, I had a virus on my computer and I registered with my Yahoo email address.  AVG worked great to get rid of it. Then after about 2 months, I started getting the notice "This is an illegal copy, but we will give you the chance to make it right, buy a valid license"

So I thought maybe I got a bad download??

I uninstalled, and downloaded the Free AVG antivirus directly from the AVG website, same thing, it worked fine for about 2 months, then I started getting the same illegal copy notice.

I became very frustrated and confused.  I said to myself, if this is a free version, then why is it telling me to get a valid license.  So I uninstalled it, and reinstalled the Free version from the AVG website.

It worked fine for a few weeks, and here I am with the same darn illegal copy notice????

I tried contacting the support team last week using my Yahoo email address, and no one has written me back. I was very disappointed to see the lack of customer service.

I also registered with this forum using my Yahoo email address, and never received an email to confirm my account with the forum.

I know that some websites automatically write off email addresses that are Yahoo and Hotmail as they think it's spam.  I personally hope this isn't the case with AVG, to think that they would over look a customer's account simply because they have a Yahoo address is pretty tacky.

So, I had to create another account using a Gmail account, low and behold, I received an account confirmation request immediately which told me that perhaps AVG does not recognize Yahoo accounts as valid email address.

I thought this was strange

I checked my Yahoo account to see if someone from the support team has written me back, and still no one has.

I read on an IT help/Q&A website trying to find out why I keep getting this illegal copy notice about AVG and other free antivirus trying to upsell their customers into buying full versions and additional software.  I sure hope this isn't the case

I sure hope someone has some answers for me, as my experiences with AVG over the past few months have been frustrating to say the least, and would not think about purchasing the full version.  This is really sad as the free version is a great product, and I can only imagine the quality of the full antivirus version.

Hello Randle.
We do have separate chat support , however there is no chat option available for Community support.
Thank you.

Hello,

I'm also trying to set up a chat with the Support group for this issue, but the screen has just been loading and loading and loading for about 20mins.  I tried stopping it, and restarting the chat, but it's been a long time that it won't load.

I don't get it? Am I in a chat queue? Or is it not working properply

Thanks
