Hi Ann,
I understand this must be upsetting. I will help to fix it.
Could you tell me if you have two AVG Protection/AVG Internet Security in your Programs List? If yes, please follow all the steps provided in the following article to resolve your issue: http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-troubleshoot-issues-after-upgrade-to-the-latest-AVG-antivirus-product
AVG has been sucking up all my CPU power. I have checked the threads and noticed this is a very common thing. I attempted a repair and the results were the same as everyone else. I disabled the self-protection mode, and that seems to have helped, but AVG still uses a LOT of resources. I paid for the tune up software from AVG and feel like I was ripped off, because the ultimate cause for my PC to be running slowly is in fact AVG itself! What is being done to resolve this? I moved away from Trend antivirus software for this exact reason and now AVG is exactly the same. Very disappointed to say the least.
