Thanks for your response.
I disabled BOTH AVGs (one of desktop and one on Laptop). I cleaned the system as far as I could.
I then could see connection to drives I wanted BOTH ways from & to each machine.
Took the opportunity to link Laptop MS Outlook to Outlook files on a hard drive on Desktop (I never leave them on C drive because if corrupted could be lost forever).
Next day I went in and again BOTH ways.
TODAY Desktop NOT showing up on Network from Laptop network and drives NOT visible or workable from Laptop m and same with Laptop not showing up on Desktop. BUT
MS Outlook on Laptop still working and allowing me to write to Laptop Outlook as if networked
AND router showing both machines are on the network.
Any idea how this could happen? And how I can get visibilty on both machines of the network. Can I map somehow in both AVGs as exclusion from blocking?
Hi Edward,
We will certainly look into this and help you.
We need to locate the cause of the issue to proceed further. Please disable AVG Internet Security and check with the connection.
If the connection is established, then enable AVG again and disable only the Firewall component of AVG to check with the connection again.

I had home network working on My Laptop & PC.
Then I installed AVG on laptop and can no longer see desktop (through which I access drives holding data)
How do I set up AVG to see internal private network (laptop connects to router via WiFi).
NB strangely I can still see media files on PC from Laptop but not data files (which I reeally need)
Edward, let us change the network profile in AVG Firewall and check the status.
Open AVG Internet Security program window.
Click on "Hacker Attacks-->Firewall Options-->Network Profiles".
If the profile was set to "Public" then change it to "Private" and then check the status with Home Network.
I'm glad to hear that your issue is resolved. I appreciate your time and co-operation.
