A website I had been using for may year got highjacked and the site downloaded a hostage malware onto my computer. AVG did not catch the download but noted after the fact something was going on.  Unfortunately, AVG did not block the malware. A silent notification message raised that my gmail account was vulnerable and that I should change my password. The malware then created a new log in account on my computer, I was locked out.  Fortunately, I did catch the problem before the malware took control full of my gmail and my computer.  I wiped the disk, reimaged form a hidden boot disk and changed my passwords.

My question:  Why did my AVG not go into full alert (sounds and all) and isolation the malware when it noticed something was wrong!  I have since reported the site to the AVG research group but I was disappointed with AVG's performance.  This could have gone bad for me really fast.
