How can I be sure I have installed correctly?

I see nothing in the programs etc., that tells me I have the newest version of AVG.  Last time, someone installed for me, and was fine, this time tried myself, and should have been easy but not so at least for me.  Wondering what I did and was it right?

Hello Karren. I would request you to look for the icon named as AVG in your desktop screen and also in the list of programs please look for any program named as AVG. By this way we can confirm that AVG program is installed on your PC.
