How do I disable AVG advertisement pop-ups?

Man AVG goes out of their way to have the most obnoxious software on the market. It used to be once a week advertisement popups on the PAID software, now its every couple of hours. I also love how every major update they change where the advertisement popup options are located, so you can spend an hour trying to find it to disable this spamware. I can't wait for my subscription to expire.

AVG add me to the list of folks leaving.  As a paid subscriber I am appaled you show ads to extract more money.  My ISP provides free Norton products.    And I already added it to one PC and am happy with it.

And if AVG's response to annoyed users is to threaten to ban them over language that is in my opinion pretty tame, then AVG is getting to big for their britches and forgetting that AVG is to serve customers, not threaten them.

Hello Abirami Shanmugam.
As I have repeatedly complained to AVG about both the pop-ups and other major problems (the Last Scanned date being wrong, unable to handle missed scheduled scans, etc) since February of this year, 2 months BEFORE the 2017 version was forced upon the general public (as opposed to only those who installed/reinstalled AVG that month), I have to assume that you are lying to me or are misinformed. AVG after all had 2 months to address my complaints before doing a mass release. They did not fix ANY of the 6+ problems I mentioned.
Since the public release you have had 2 additional months to address the complaints other people have been making en mass - the same problems you were already informed about. They have fixed 2 of those problems in that entire time - the program crashing or displaying error messages erroneously when a computer wakes up from sleep mode, and the scheduled scan not running at all when a computer is in sleep mode.
AVG has had 4 MONTHS to return functionality that they removed with their major update, and to simply switch off advertisements from displaying to people who have paid subscriptions.
It's possible that you are being sincere when you say AVG is working very hard to find the "best" solution, but if that is the case then whoever told you this is lying to YOU, or whoever is working to fix the problem is doing a terrible job.

AVG should be ashamed of using 'scare' tactics to trap their customers into purchasing additional products. Particularly when they have paid extra for ‘Ultimate Protection’. This underhand type of marketing leaves me with the impression that I cannot trust AVG’s integrity and would not renew again. These advertising ‘Pop Ups’ should be clearly ladled as adverts and not appear like warnings!

|Redstack, open AVG Internet Security, click Menu -> Settings -> General -> Personal Privacy. Uncheck 'Show offers for other AVG products', |'Shows offers for 3rd party products' and click OK to save the settings.

AVG,
We now have different options in this dialog now. Will unchecking these turn off the promotional pop-ups?

Its amazing how you guys as company have the guts to say you're working on a solution for more then half a year. Either give us the solution, or just admit you don't give a shit about usercomplaints.

Yep, I'm done as well.  I used the free product many years ago and it was so good I subscribed and have been paying for several years now - I believe if something is good, you pay for it.
But the constant ads are driving me batty!!  I already own it, don't try and sell it to me!!!
Will not be renewing, and am thinking of uninstalling prior to my renewal, and putting my money elsewhere.  Sorry AVG, I don't like your product anymore.

Hello Chris,
We regret for the inconvenience caused. Could you please confirm whether you had installed AVG 2016 or 2017 version on your system? Did you tried to follow the steps which mentioned in the following article http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-Change-the-Frequency-of-Pop-Up-Notifications .
Could you please send the screenshot of your popup messages so that we can assist further? Please click on the following link http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-create-a-screenshot  to send the screen shot.
Thank you.

Hi Sean,

We apologize for the inconvenience caused, this is not the expected behavior from our AVG program.

Have you tried to disable the campaign pop up settings in the AVG program?

If not please try to follow the below instructions to disable pop ups from AVG program:

AVG Internet Security > Menu > Settings > General > privacy > Uncheck both "shows offers for our other products" and "Show offers for 3rd party products"

If the issue still persists please let us know to help you further.

I do not want to disable ALL messages from AVG. I want to disable product advertisements only. Do I have to disable all of those pop-ups just to get rid of messages like "people are spying on you?"  Because it looks like if I disable every pop-up, I will not be informed of system updates or even if a virus infection has been detected on my computer.

I see there is no resolution. I have my settings set to 0 except for warnings about malware and other problems. I still continously see the pop-ups about subscribing to VPN service, because my ISP can know what I am doing. Also get other annoying pop-ups for your products. I am an advanced user, and do NOT want to see any of these AD's. Since there is no resolution after months, I am uninstalling the product today, and will ask for a remainder of refund.

AVG pop-up settings

Hi Chris,
We apologize for the inconvenience caused to you and to fix the issue please follow the below process.
Open AVG->Open internet Security->Go to menu->settings->general->Popups->Select all the option as 'Zero'
After this if the issue persists, please feel free to contact us. We are always here to help you with your issue.
Thank you.

Having used AVG for years and recommended it to others, I am going to uninstall and advise against as soon as I can identify a preferred alternative. I am absolutely fed up of the advertising pop-ups and the sleight of presentation that seeks to mislead customers into trialling products. It seems AVG has adopted the very tactics it used to warn about.

Hi Debra,

For paid version of AVG Antivirus/Internet Security, we have the option to disable campaign popups under "Privacy" option.
Open AVG Internet Security window.
Click on "Menu–>Settings–>General–>Privacy".
You should be seeing a check box with a tick mark saying "Show offers for other AVG products".
If you click on the box, the tick will disappear and then click on OK.
You should not be getting campaigns for other AVG products anymore.
If that option is missing, then you should be having old version.
Perform update to get the latest version 18.6.
For update, click on "Menu–>Settings–>Update" from program interface.

AVG Can we have a resolution on this now? It's been months since this has been reported and has no doubt crossed an SLA threshold.

No.  After a few months I've found the time to return here and tell everyone that the setting does NOTHING to prevent the ads from popping up quite often.  I don't think the checkboxes are hooked up to acutal back end code in the application.  Sucks.  I would abandone AVG (paid subscription) but I suspect every other anti-virus is going to behave exactly the same way.  Being a paid customer, it really is that annoying to have to constantly be bombarded by ads for other AVG products I obviously don't want to buy.

I have put all notifications at 0 and I still keep getting pop up adds to upgrade. I have the full paid version. If AVG does not take care of this issue I will NOT renew. I will decide if I want to upgrade with out the adds. I will not send screen shots. Over the past 3 years, you should know what everyone screen shots people are talking about. Please advise how to fix or get your programmers to send a fix for an actual option that works.

Corel do the same thing. However when you ask thier support team about this they actualy give you the instructions on how to remove the product advertising permanatly. As you can see this issue has been frustrating users for years and yet it remains part of thier marketing straturgy. We have over 50 liceses and we will not be renewing. Enough is enough.

Hello Chris,
Unfortunately there is no option for disabling campaign pop ups. We have escalated the issue to our concern team they will fix it on the next update. Also please submit your query to our developers team by clicking this link http://www.avg.com/us-en/product-feedback
Thank you.
