How do I disable the constant pop-ups from AVG offering me additional services?

AVG support's "answers" to this problem are a joke. There is no fix. There is no disabling the incessant pop-ups. Per other users' reports, there are even pop-ups in the paid version. AVG has become an Adware of its own.

I am an IT professional (over 20 years) I have recomended AVG for much of my career. After paying for a subscription, I fully expected the annoying pop-up ads to go away. I even advised dozens of enterprise clients to go ahead and pay the ca$h to buy the full version to get rid of the pop-ups. I have had several support calls from my corperate users pretty darn pissed (as am I) that they are still seeing ads for other AVG products, after purchasing many licences. Does the marketing dept. really think that everyone is going to pay for EVERY product AVG offers just to get rid of popups? Think again. I represent several enterprise companies for their IT. I will be advising them not to pay for any of AVGs product offerings. Very disappointing. AVG has ruined its brand… first with the browser hijacks <cough> "search bar" now pop ups for paid licenses? I will give your marketing team a month or two to roll out an update that fixes this concern. I will not include screenshots, thank you for your scripted response below. Actions, not words, will solve this.

Hello Thomas,
We understand how something like this can really try your patience.
Could you please let us know the name and version of AVG product you have installed in your pc? so that we are happy to assist you better.
Feel free to contact us for any further assistance. Thank you.

I'm sorry - I don't understand.  You say they're temporary, but also repeated.  Those two seem somewhat at odds with one another.  Can they be disabled?  If they are temporary, when will they go away?  If they do go away, are they gone for good or will they come back?  Or will they replaced by another annoying ad?  No offense, but I install virus protection to avoid being annoyed by unwanted crap popping up on my screen.  If you guys are now in that business, you're not the solution, you're part of the problem.

I play occasional long games. I have adjusted AVG free to the maximum time for pop-ups - none of which I want - but they still come up. This kills the game. I am not happy after four hours to have this happen, repeatedly.  I had decided to cave in an upgrade to your paid version, but decided to check the support area to confirm it would fix my problem. I was astounded to see that unwanted pop-ups still would be a problem. I use AVG Free on my Mac, PC desktop (gaming), PC laptop (work), and have installed it on my sister and mother's PCs. Each of them are terrified that there are huge problems with their computer - but in fact, AVG is the problem. I am starting this afternoon to un-install them on all machines. I will never deal with you again; this is a pity, since your product used to be a great one, and at times, I paid for the upgrades. You are now about the worst of the spammers I have run across. Your antivirus product works acceptably, but the constant upgrade spam, inability to suspend it during a known time period (for gaming) and the take-over of browser search for those not technically aware (shame on you) mean you've lost a user.  I will now use Windows Defender - not the best, it uses a lot of system resources, but it doesn't spam you, while I carefully research which of your competitors to BUY - for 5 systems.  For those who are researching whether to use AVG Free or other products - I would suggest not to.  Have a nice day.

I keep getting popups about upgrades, trials of other AVG products, and installing safe search on my browser.  I always say no, and I've even gone on to disable system tray notifications.  None of this seems to work, and the popups keep coming back.  Is there a way to permanently disable the ads?  If there isn't, is there a piece of software out there that provides free virus protection without annoying its users?

Tired of that AVG crap.  Removed it and installed another brand.

AVG Antivirus Free Edition, version 16.71.7597

I am getting that same annoying ad daily. Not only can I not stop it, it freezes on my desktop and I can't cancel out of it with any of the buttons or through task manager. I have to reboot. I too think I'm going to have to ditch AVG - sad because I've been happy with it for years.

Thank you.

AVG support. With these pop-ups, your software has gone from one of the best security systems on the market to THE WORST!!! I received twelve of these yesterday, all about the same offering to sell me additional AVG products. I would certainly not buy another AVG product and don't need to be reminded of this every time I restart my computer. I know of noone who finds these "useful" which explains why nearly all developers have removed them from their software.
Please tell me how to disable these permanently WITHOUT installing third party software or tell me how to cancel my subscription.
Sincerely Furious and dissatisfied.
