Bruce, thank you for your quick reply. I typically make a conscious effort to make sure when I am downloading a program or even updating one that I deselect any piggy-backing apps. I obviously missed this one.
Alan, my apologies, this is the first time I have posted in this forum and obviously did not know exactly where to post.

Hello John, a post at McAfee Communities forum reported success removing Fast and Safe with Malwarebytes. I use Malwarebytes Free myself, and it is compatible with AVG - but you must be careful to deselect the free trial of Malwarebytes Premium during installation because it is not compatible with AVG.
Speaking of deselecting unwanted items when installing free software: Failure to do so is the usual way of getting infected with adware and other PUPs. Hope you didn't click on that "update" link.
I have been having prompts in both Chrome and Firefox stating that my video player is up to date and to click on a link to update it. When I try and and leave that page it prompts me again if I am sure I want to leave that page.
I looked in my Control Panel and see a listing for a program called "Fast and Safe" from GTgroup which I think might be the problem. When I try to uninstall it I get the following error:
RunDLL - The specified module could not be found
I did a search on this program and found several references to it being a virus. However the remedies mentioned online were not easy and required downloading other software to get rid of this program.
Why is AVG not recognizing this as a virus? Is there any way I can get flagged as a virus so it can remove it?
