I don't mind using ad-paid software, but when I pay for it, I don't expect ads - especially the slimy web-style of stuffing ads inside security software.
I bought AVG Ultimate. It should never tell me I should upgrade to Pro anti-virus, upgrade to Pro anti-malware, u[grade.... This is NOT the standard upgrade notice. These are ads. When I click on it, it takes me to the page that compares Free to all the other versions, and their prices. That's NOT an upgrade, that is a BUY-ME ad!
There is also the permanent ads shoving VPN in my face. If this was a professionally built forum/discussion/bbs/help/support medium, it would allow screen caps.
My "Ultimate" now states:
- Upgrade to anti-virus Pro [download]
- Upgrade to anti-malware Pro [download]
- Email is not protected (can't remember the rest)
In Zen, it has an ad for "HMA! Pro VPN - Opens on HideMyAss.com " which just points to AVG being a reseller or affiliate of HideMyAss.com.
I contacted tech support, paid for the LD call, waited, waited, and then they wanted access to my computer. Excuse me, but your anti-virus I [aid fpor, and the system AVG used to reord my purchase isn't on my computer. There is no need for any tech to access anyone's computer. The last time I let AVG in a computer, it cost me the rebuild of the O/S and programs. All data lost. No thank you.
They did the next best thing, they prevent the notification from telling me top upgrade for the best to the best - again!
I wanted my Ultimate back, but instead got a disabled notifier. I want to renewable the notifier and not have the ads popping up by the clock, nor embedded in the "warning" when op[ending AG or Zen and without the ads. Or, what is the fee, if anyone knows, to call Tech Support and ask them bow to remove their annoying, insulting and slimy approach to increased sales even if you already own it.
