What is passive mode and How can I get rid of it? AVG won't run scan

We apologize for the inconvenience caused to you.
AVG program would enter passive mode, if there are any other antivirus installed on your computer.
Passive mode still allows you to run scans using AVG. The only difference is the real time protection will not be available.
Please clarify whether there are any other antivirus installed on your computer. If so, please remove it & then restart the computer to check if it helps.
