How do I stop annoying pop-ups?

Hi George,

I really apologize for the inconvenience caused. The pop-up message is a temporary campaign for 'AVG PC Tune Up'. You can either click on the pop-up message to install 'trial' version of 'AVG Pc Tune Up' or you can ignore the pop-up message.

I keep getting annoying pop-ups such as reminding me that it is a new school year.

How can I stop this?
