How do I turn it on my AVG?

Hello Patti,
I regret for the inconvenience caused. Please try to repair AVG as suggested below and check if that resolve the issue.
To repair your AVG please follow these instructions:

Go to Start -> Control Panel.
Note: Click Settings first if Control Panel is not available in the Start menu.
Open (Programs) -> Programs and Features, or Add or Remove Programs.
Select AVG Protection in the list of programs.
Click the Change or Change/Remove button.
Select Repair.
Follow the instructions on your screen to complete the installation.
Restart your computer.

If the issue persist, please uninstall AVG completely and reinstall.

My AVG ran a scan and the computer icon is green and says it's protected, but up at the top of the window it says in red You are not protected! Computer protection is turned off.  I hit the fix now button and nothing happens.  How do I turn my protection back on?

Download and run AVG Clear tool: https://share.avg.com/steam/PSP/AVG2017/AVG_Clear.exe. This tool will help with removing antivirus component of AVG 2017 and its traces.

Open tool
User Account control - click "Yes"
Windows safe mode - click "No"
Choose installed version (AVG Free, AVG Internet Security)
Click "Uninstall"
Click "Restart computer".

After restart, run AVG Remover and remove all other supported products and remnants of AVG (ZEN, Framework,…).
