Many thanks for that information, I located the file and was able to complete the uninstallation. Would you know why the Mac spotlight searches failed to identify the file location?.. it would have saved a lot of time. Again, thank you.
Regards

AVG wouldn't open so I dragged it to the trash and rebooted. When I then tried to reinstall it a dialogue box states that it's already installed.
Are there any tools to search and remove AVG from Mac? Any information much appreciated.
Hello, and thank you for your response. However, I am not making the situation clear, so to restate the events.
I uninstalled AVG free by dragging it to the trash and then emptied the trash.
I then downloaded AVG free again and attempted to install it.
That installation failed because a dialogue box stated/states that AVG is already installed.
There is nothing in applications regarding AVG
Spotlight search for AVG on my Mac reveals nothing.
Every cookie/cache file has been removed. I cannot find any trace of AVG on my Mac
When I attempt to install AVG, a dialogue box states that AVG is already installed.
During the above attempts to locate AVG and remove it, the system has been rebooted sveral times.
I trust this information assists you so that I can locate/remove/reinstall AVG free.

Thank you for letting us know and we would like to appreciate your efforts.
Please be informed that it is not recommended to uninstall AVG application by dragging it to trash. This could have been the reason or your search criteria does not meet the requirement to locate the file.
Yeah I have the same problem, but i couldn't find "components" in the folder. I deleted everything with "avg" written on it and it still stays that a previous version is installed.
Jack, please try removing the AVG folders as mentioned in this article (https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-uninstall-AVG-AntiVirus-for-Mac) and follow the steps as mentioned under 'Alternative method'. This will remove the traces of AVG from your Mac.
If we can be of more help, please hesitate to let us know.
B Barnes, I'm sorry for delay in responding to you. I request you to open folder /Library/Application Support/AVGAntivirus/components/uninstall/ and run the com.avg.uninstall.app.
Best regards,
Alok.
Ok. I know for the future.
