How do you stop a program from sleeping?

Please open the  AVG TuneUp > Speed up > Background & startup programs, removed the necessary programs from the sleep list, and click Ignore to allows the application to continue running in the background and remove it from the list and check the status.

I have a suit of programs that synchronize, but the AVG software put them to sleep. I had a lot of problems trying to sync the 2 programs and I think that when the programs sleep synchronization is lost.
Can't see any obvious references to this feature in the menus.
