George, Prior to Windows 8 Windows Defender was just an antispyware program. With Win 8 it was upgraded to antivirus program. Since AVG is both an antivirus & antispyware program so in either case Windows Defender shouldn't be used as an active program on your system but only for an additional scanning check in a non-active mode. Have a look @ this new form link (https://support.avg.com/support_contact_form) to get email/chat/phone support.

My comment to you really is not a answer but the so called E-Mail that Alan Birch sugested to you I have been on that page and as far as I can tell it is only for phone contact not email. Unless there is something else that I cant see.
I've got a simple question, and that's if windows defender can run in parallel with AVG, and for the past half hour I've been lost in the avg web site. When I spoke to someone on the phone, they had an accent so thick I could hardly understand it.
Why should I continue with AVG with this kind of service? I can't even find an email address for them!
