How many products of your's do I need to be safe?

Everytime I agree to purchase an avg product I feel I'm covered for every possible threat. Then it tells me to buy another to thwart that threat.  Will this continue forever and am I a sucker?  So far, I've paid you $50.63, 38.03 and 44.39.  What else is there?  I thought just the $50 one would protect me.  I feel unsafe and scammed.  Help me understand that I'm not.
