How revert to AVG Free after end of the trial period for the full version

I have attempted to get AVG Free 2015 working in free mode with this method 3 times. During uninstall, there is no option to switch to free and I continue to get the "trial has expired" message…

Your article "Remove AVG trial popup and continue with free protection" fits well to my question. However, the instructions in section "Switch to AVG Free" seem to apply to Windows XP. Do they also work for Windows 7? I do know how to modify step 1 to get to the list of installed products.
