Mike, sorry for the misunderstanding. How do you suspect that AVG is blocking the access to your router? Have you checked the access to your router by disabling AVG?
Please follow the below instructions to add the particular port to allow list on AVG Firewall:
Open AVG Internet Security > Menu > Settings > Components > Customize (Enhanced Firewall) > Packet Rules > Add the port number to the allow list

You can add it to the normal exception list to allow the access. Open Internet Security -> Menu -> Settings -> General -> Exceptions to add exception.

I’m trying to get my VPN connected and one of the actions is to allow tcp1742. The other is to access my router which I believe AVG is blocking. Exception has no way of adding access to a TCP
