The "Fix It" is not compatilbe with Windows 8 ( I am using 8.1 Pro) so I created the file manually and placed it into the correct folder { %WinDir%\System32\Drivers\Etc}(naming it hosts and renaming other file hostsold), however this did not resolve the issue. Still unable to reach most AVG sites.
Yes, I did attempt these, but neither of the "Fix" downloads would work since I am using Windows 8.1 Along with "page Not found" for all AVG sites, it also says this: "Apache/2.2.15 (CentOS) Server at www.avg.com Port 80" This only happens with AVG sites and no other sites. I'm wondering if it has something to do with my wirelss router? I am using a NetGear H750 (I am thinking the problem may of started when I began using this router a couple of monts ago, but am not sure). It is set for "automatic proxy". Currently connected to it, is this PC, my wifes Macbook Pro. Her's is also wiraless and I can reach all of your sites on it, just not on this PC. As I mentioned, I can downlaod software for AVG from alternate sites. It is more of trying to fix this problem on this PC just to satisfy myself. Also, I have a Kodak All In One Printer that tells me I'm 100% connected (wirelsessly) yet when I try to print I get and error telling me it is not connected. Like most PC problems, it is just a matter of finding the right answer. Any ideas you may have would be appreciated. Thanks…
I also have Google Chrome and launched it to your website:
Download Free Antivirus Software for PC | AVG Virus Protection
Not Found
The requested URL /download was not found on this server.
Have no idea why this is happening. PC is in tip top shape, running geratly and the only sites I cannot reach all belong to AVG. If I need something from AVG I can find it at other sites with alternate downloads. However, I can think of no logical reason whatsoever that would cause this. Alan, if you're an AVG guru, then you should be able to figure out why, since it is stopping AVG customers from attaining downlaods, buying products etc.thus causing AVG loss of revenue. It would appear since I cannot reach any of those sites thru Firefox, IE and Google Chrome, then AVG also has a problem and your generic answer that you can reach them has no bearing on your customers problems ans solutions.
All of a sudden, most AVG sites are unavailable. Anyone know why?
Hi Bob,
Did you actually tried follow steps from that article?
Blocking of one page is usually caused by host file or infected DNS.
Thanks
Bob, I use Google Chrome & all the sites that you've listed are working perfectly OK.

My goodness, have you not even read my issue. I have full internet access to everything but…AVG sites. Just forget about it as apparently you have not apprehended the idea of what is going on.
Having these issues too, waiting to buy a license … bummer!

The above link does not work for Windows 8. I am running Windows 8.1 Pro and it is not compatible with this machine. What is the "host file"? I can give you any info you need, jsut tell me where to get it from.
?
Zbynek, I am also not sure what you mean by "resetting my host file"? I get the DNS address automatically from my ISP, router Mac address/default/enable SSID Broadcast/Security WPA2-PSK [AES] / and the passphrase is correct also. I thought this may help your diagnosis.

Hi all,
For help on your issue please refer to this article (http://kb.avg.com/articles/How_to/Restore-Internet-connectivity).
Thanks
Hi Bob,
If both computers are connected to same router, whan router should be safe.
Did you reset host file? Or at least confirmed that there are not AVG pages?
Also please provide us with Gmer scan result (http://kb.avg.com/articles/en_US/How_to/GMER-Scan-Result/).
Thanks
Zbynek, yes routter has been reset and I also allowed it to download and install new software. This was done last night. The software was installed automatically and after install the router went offf (for a very short period of time) then came back up, with the new software installed. This of course did not solve the problem. I downlaoded and installed your gmr.zip, extracted it,ran the tool.exe. renamed in including my email address and upload it it to your ftp server. I uploaded it again to you ftp server in a folder with my email address on it and here is the confirmation. mdybluz@cox.net_18122312.7z
As I mentioned, I can work around it but it puzzles me and would prefer to correct this. Thanks in advance…
