How to avoid Suspicious detected on Software I create

If specifically signing with sha256 instead would prevent this, this is possible

I am a retired software developer who still enjoys I bit of coding now and then. I have this same problem whenever I test run any code from every project and it's driving me mad.

Hi,

I'm a software developer and having issues with our software is being flagged and scanned (passes ok) during installation, which causes issues with the correct deployment. Our software is compiled in Visual Studio and digitally signed with a SHA-256 certificate. Is there anything we can do to avoid AVG thinking the application is suspicious?

Thanks

I have just added the application.exe file to the allowed apps list but it has not stopped the problem which happens each time a make a code change

The way this application functions might be against the AVG or this could also be a false positive.
Add this file to the Exceptions in the AVG Internet Security
And please submit the file to our developers for analysis.
Click this link https://www.avg.com/en-ww/false-positive-file-form to submit the form.
They will check and get back to you as soon as possible.

What factors decide on whether it scans the file or not? Does it scan ALL .exe files that are installed on a PC by an installer?

But what specifically has it detected?

I'm very aware of this application and it is 100% safe. I have compiled this application myself. I'm looking for deeper technical information on what AVG looks at and what triggers it to think it might not be safe so I can make changes to the way the application is compiled/distributed.

Thanks

Hi,

Thanks. The component is "CyberCapture". What functions is it looking at that it think might be suspicious and how do I avoid this being triggered in the first place?

We're glad to clarify this for you, Jon.
Initially, we'd suggest you to identify the component that has detected the file as malicious.
To do so, click on 'See details' in the notification that you receive.
Usually, Behavior Shield monitors programs installed on your PC for suspicious behavior that may indicate the presence of malicious code.
Also, File Shield scans programs and files on your hard drive as they are opened, run, modified, and saved. If malware is detected, File Shield prevents the program or file from infecting your PC.
You can check this article which has the info about clean notes of AVG, depending upon which a file/url is being flagged.

These pop ups ate just indicating you that AVG are scanning those files.
it has also given a result saying 'It's safe'.
You or the s/w shouldn't be facing any issue due to this.
Let us know if you any more queries.

Hi Jon,

We will help you in this.
Do you get any pop up message from the AVG regarding your s/w?
If yes, kindly share us the screenshot of that.
Refer this article for the steps to capture the screenshot : https://bit.ly/2Y6RCDP
You can post the screenshot here in your topic. Click on 'Answer' & then click on the 'Image' [mountain symbol] & follow the instructions.

Hi Val,

We appreciate your efforts & technical knowledge.
You will be able to set AVG not to scan the exe file in future by adding them to exception, which isn't recommended unless you're aware of the legitimacy of the file.
For further queries, feel free to write back to us in your own post.
Thank you for your understanding in advance!
