Thank you Alan Binch, for your help, I was also facing this problem I usually received email pop-ups of different essay writing service (https://essaywriting.com.pk) in Karachi (http://essaywriting.com.pk) in the email inbox and it disturbed me during my work in laptop but you suggestion solve this issue.

Any time I get an email I get a popup from avg that says "scanning incoming email" or something like that. If I'm typing or something it will cause my typing to stop and I have to click in the text box again to resume typing. This is especially bothersome if I don't notice the pop up and I keep typing away and find out nothing is typing. Also my son uses the computer for his schoolwork and if he is typing something like an essay it's really annoying to have to deal with the pop up. Is there a way to turn that off short of turning off my email program? I want it to keep scanning the email, but not to pop up the notification.

Bring up your AVG User Interface -> Options -> Advanced Settings -> Appearance -> System Tray Notifications -> [Disable - untick] Email Scanner Notifications.
