I have avg free versio on this laptop. I have had one form of avg on both my work or personal computers for 15 years. I find it a lot better then most other anti-virus and anti-malware programs. But here is my question. This laptop is OLD 2200 celeron @900mhz with 2gb or ram and a 218 HD. I have the HD almost 85% full. But I defrag ever three days. Anyway use to have AVG scheduled to do a scan twice a week at 0300. That way I could leave my machine on before I went to bed and it would scan and shut itself down after the scan was finished. I have not had that schedule for months now ( for various non computer related real world reasons) This computer is getting really slow so I suspect that there is some malware or viruses operating in the background. Is there I way I can do a limited or partial scan of just the most important system files and ram and have that scan only operate for say 2 hours?. And if possible have AVG pick up where is left off at another time? I know that a full scan of my HD and RAM would take hours at this point.
Thanks in Advance.
Thanks you Harihrarkumar. I know you can scan particular files and folders. But that was NOT my question. I wanted to know how I could do a partial scan of the most importand files on the computer OR of ram to see what is slowing down the machine so much OR a scan that would only run for a specific amount of time, say 2 hours.
