How to get rid of two viruses

Thanks Marvin…worked like a charm!!!

  1. I have a program called  "installer" which installed itself…I cannot seem to uninstall it. It does not respond.
    2.  I keep getting messages from " http://pctrustalert.com" which are false messages.  AVG cannot get rid of it.
    3. Whenever I click on a link, I receive unwanted advertisments and links to sites.  AVG scans find nothing.

Hello Jessie, sounds like adware rather than a virus. I found only one similar report, at Yahoo Answers (was that you?), but no helpful answer there yet. It might be helpful to know what free software (if any) was installed on the same date shown for "installer." One AVG setting that is not on by default might be helpful: I would select "Report enhanced set of potentially unwanted programs" for both Computer protection and scanning. If you want to try other security software, the first program I would suggest is Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (Free) - but be careful to deselect the free trial of Malwarebytes Premium during installation because its resident protection is incompatible with AVG. Also, you might try looking for unfamiliar browser helper objects.

When I try to uninstall "installer" AVG goes crazy…madly removing infections.  I think this is more than adware.  "installer" gives no publisher name and is version 1.0…0.0
I am wondering if I should get my computer cleared completely.  The AVG tech who worked on my computer before removed a lot of stuff but not the "installer"
I sometimes am told by my computer that someone else is on before I close and there is no one in my house who is on.  I haven't had that message for a while.

Hi Jessie,
I am happy to see that your issue is resolved.
Thanks for posting back.
