How to get the free 2 year subsciption from the Avast claim award

I have just been informed that I have successfully been awarded a 2 year subscription as a result of the claim against Avast. The instructions for applying it seem to apply only to Avast One. I use AVG Internet Security. How do I get the awarded 2 years.

If you received the two-year settlement offer but currently use AVG Internet Security, I would first confirm the offer directly through the official Avast/AVG support channels. The settlement information appears to provide a two-year upgrade to Avast Premium Security, rather than adding two years to an existing AVG Internet Security subscription.

If your claim has already been approved, support should be able to confirm whether you need to switch to Avast Premium Security or whether they can apply the entitlement another way. I would avoid entering the claim details or activation information anywhere except the official Avast/AVG websites, especially since there have been questions from other users about settlement emails.

Thanks for that.

I have today spoken to Avast support who told me to speak to AVG support. AVG suggested I reply to the Avast email which included my “Redemption Code” to explain that I want an extension to my AVG subscription, not the Avast product. I am awaiting a response from Avast again now, but the AVG agent did seem to think that Avast should be able to provide me a “Redemption Code” for my AVG product.

Keeping fingers crossed in the meantime !!

I’ve just given up and deleted the email. Did not know of the data breach to start with, so no great loss. Happy with my AVG I/S !!!

Hi Laurence

I have just contacted AVG Support and had a frustrating conversation, but the conclusion is that I can not get an extension to my AVG product, I must accept the Avast product to get the free 2 years. I do not want to change from my current product and my contract lasts until Jun 2028 anyway. This is, I feel, very shoddy but I am sick of it and am giving up !!!

Well, I just received another intervention from AVG Support to say the 2 years CAN be applied to my AVG product and offering to combine it with my original subscription. I have just checked my subscription details and it HAS been extended by the 2 years !! Very frustrating getting there, but big Thank You AVG in the end !!!

Glad they finally sorted it out.
