Hi Aravind,
Like Seth said, AVG doesn't appear under Login Items on MacOS (well it doesn't for me and him, anyway). This answer won't work. Please provide another way.
Thanks,
Brandon

I want to prevent AVG from opening at startup on my macbook. I only want to open it manually when I want to use it. It doesn't appear in login items and I don't see any options in the software to stop this. How can I prevent it from startup?

Hello Seth,
We understand how something like this can really try your patience.
It is advised not to stop AVG from startup. It will run in the back ground to check for virus. If it has been stopped you will be infected with virus. To stop it from the start up please follow the below steps :
- Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Users & Groups.
- Select Login Items.
- And choose AVG and disable it from the start up.
Please feel free to contact us for any further assistance. Thank you.
Hey Seth~ did a reinstall resolve your issue?
