Like I stated in my original post:
I have already followed the directions listed on the AVG site (| AVG), but they did not work. I am running Windows XP. AVG is not even listed as an installed program and it's also not under the Options menu in Firefox. Yet when I open a new tab, the AVG SecureSearch opens up.
Yes, I did. After 3 remote sessions they were finally able to successfully remove it from my computer. It shouldn't have to be that hard. I spent an exorbitant amount of time trying to get this removed. I will never install anything AVG-related again!
I too have followed the instructions on removing AVG Secure Search and it will not uninstall. Please help… my husband was about to toss this laptop out the window, so this is Mariah. I took over trying to see if fresh eyes could handle this task, however it seems that all so called "solutions" (all over the internet, including yours) do not work.
Again I ask, please help…
Sincerely,
Mariah (and Rick)

Actually I did already change the homepage to my preferred website. And I double checked to confirm this- when I click the home icon, my preferred home page (google.com) does come up. But as you can read from my initial post, the problem is when I open a new tab. If I have Firefox open, and I open a new tab, the AVG SecureSearch page opens. Please let me know the steps for removing this please.
