How to report something to AVG

Hello Victor,

You can report a malicious file or site to AVG from the below link.

https://www.avg.com/en-us/report-malicious-file

This will reach the concerned team and make sure to check the report.

Hi Ranjani,

I do not wish to block anything. I just want to understand how this works. The head developer of Shroud of the Avatar, Chris Spears, a game I have a mutual interest in from a business standpoint has informed the community that people are abusing your product by falsely reporting the game as a virus.

If people are able to take advantage of your processes and cause the game to be blocked by AVG, then it causes my business a lot of strife.

Thanks,
Victor Didra

Thank you Victor,
We flag an application or website based on multiple checks. Detailed information on what specifications will be analysed is described in https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?l=en&urlName=AVG-clean-guidelines&supportType=home.
When you report an application or URL as safe to use, our developers will verify the application/URL to make sure that it follows the guidelines mentioned in the article.
After we conclude them as safe, it is also possible that changes are made in the core application or web source of URL by application developer. AVG program installed in the computer will highlight the application or URL as threat when the scan identifies the malicious things in the code again.

Hi Ranjani,

If that is the truth then why do industry vetrans in game development advise us otherwise? Please see this post by lead developer of Portalarium who is working on Shroud of the Avatar:
Why is nobody addressing this current outage?? | Shroud of the Avatar Forum

Can you please explain why he says one thing and you say another thing?

Victor Didra

Thank you for the info, Victor.
Yes, someone can't take advantage of it. They can block or allow specific application via AVG settings but it will not affect other users, changes will be applicable to specific user.
User can report a false positive or a undetected file via the link provided above. We will check and update our virus definitions based on the result.

I want to ask how something can be reported to AVG as bad?

How would I report a program on my computer to AVG as bad?
How would I report a website I visit to AVG as bad?
Does AVG use one or more 3rd party blacklisting services?
How would I contact the 3rd party blacklisting service to ask that they block something AVG has missed?

Victor, due to some privacy issues we cannot able to access the link which you have provided.

So, please share us the screenshot from the website.

Yes, Victor.
Our developers team will check and work on it. Would you like to block any specific application via AVG product you have installed?
