How to schedule scan for C: drive and rootkit only

Thank you for recommending the third-party Gmer tool.  I will consider using it.  I also see a favorable Gmer review at http://www.techsupportalert.com/best-free-rootkit-scanner-remover.htm#Quick_Selection_Guide

Using a non-AVG  tool raises several more questions:
1) Does AVG Internet Security use a version of Gmer as a roorkit scanner when I use AVG to scan my entire computer including rootkits, or does AVG use their own rootkit scanner?
2) Is ther no way to use AVG to perform a rootkit scan except by running an entire computer scan?
3) Is the AVG Rootkit scanner as effective as the Gmer rootkit scanner?

Thank you,
  - Tim

Hi Tim, we apologize for the inconvenience caused. We request you to follow the below steps to run a root kit scan.
1. Download the Gmer tool. (  http://www2.gmer.net/gmer.zip )
2. Save the archive to your disk, and then extract it.
3. After extracting the archive, rename the file "Gmer.exe" to "Tool.exe".
4. Run the Tool.exe file.
5. In the right part of the window tick all your drivers (C:; D:; …).
6. In the bottom right corner, click Scan.
Note: The scan may take up to 60 minutes (or more) based on your disk size and computer speed.
7. When the scan is complete, click Save…, to save the file in your computer.

Please do not hesitate to get back to us for further assistance. Thanks.

Hello Ratheesh,
Perhaps I did not state my question clearly.  I was not asking you for the "steps to scan your C-drive". I know how to do that.

Please tell me how to schedule a rootkit scan that does NOT also include a scan of the entire computer.

(I will now click "Answer" to continue this thread.  I an obviously not "Answering" it since I an the one asking the question, but that is the only option your software provides.)

Thank you.

I was advised to instalI GMER after a problem I had last year when AVG "discoverd a rootkit".  I use inverted commas as it couldn't provide a description.  It kept crashing every time I tried to scan, so I tried the older version.  That kept crashing too.  I got fed up with it and uninstalled it.  There didn't seem to be any rootkit and the PC has been fine ever since.

Hello,
I want to schedule a scan for only the C drive, but also scans for rootkits.
I don't see how to schedule a rootkit scan without scanning the whole computer.  Can you tell me how?

If I have to schedule two scans to do the above, that is alright but not preferred.

Thank you,
 - Tim
