Hi B,
To analyze this issue please provide us diagnostic output using this tool (http://www.avg.com/filedir/util/AVG_SysInfo.exe).
Thanks
System config -
- windows 7 64-bit w/service pack 1
- avg anti-virus free 2014 build 4577
- "Computer" protection active and up to date
- "Web browsing" protection not installed
- "Identity" protection not installed
- "Emails" protection is on (protected)
- "Firewall" is not activated
- No other anti-virus programs are installed
- Windows Defender is turned OFF
- Windows firewall is active (no other firewalls active)
Situation:
After updating to 2014 via the automatic prompt from AVG program, the laptop's hard drive light is constantly active.
Cause isolation: To isolate what might be causing this, I:
- shut down all optional programs - no help
- disabled the network adaptor - no help
- disabled AVG - hard drive stopped activity
- enabled AVG - hard drive resumed being constantly accessed
- in Avg advanced setting, I verifed:
- "Scheduled scan" was disabled
- "definition update and program update" were set to run once per day (and had been run today)
- verified "check computer time" is NOT checked
With AVG running, the Resouce Monitor from Task Manager shows 'avgrsa.exe causing 95+% of the disk activity.
How can I stop avgrsa.exe from continuously accessing the disk? (seems to be reads only)
