Https scanning clarification

I am currently using AVG Antivirus. In the settings, https scanning is turned ON. When I go to any website which is SSL enabled, I do not see the AVG/WEBMAIL certificate in the certificate chain. This I check by clicking on the lock icon in the browser bar and looking for the certificate authority. This is happening in Firefox and Chrome. But when I open the same website in IE then I see the AVG certificate in the certificate chain.

My question is how AVG is doing https decryption when I don't see AVG root certificate in the certificate chain. Why the issuing authority of the certificate becomes different when I use IE without changing anything in AVG.

Is the feature https scanning is really working in FF and Chrome or not?s How to confirm it?

Please clarify
